So I’ve found a gorgeous chestnut Irish filly who is 3 in August. Unbacked but all the groundwork has been done brilliantly so won’t back until next Summer when rising 4. She is currently measuring as 14.3 but still a little bum high. She does apparently have a little Irish draught in her but breeding unrecorded. Her head has that slight ID look but she is quite fine compared to my 14.2 Connie/ cob. I’m hoping she might make 15hh! Luckily I’ve just lost 7.4 kg in last 3 months so down to 60kg so don’t think I will hopefully squash her?

Don’t know - but impressive weight loss. For my information how tall are you. I bought my forever horse at 4 months - it didn’t make the height hoped but is perfect in every other way - and I have nightmares I am too heavy/ tall (14.2 medium to heavy cob, 62kg, 5’8”)

She sounds lovely!

My Welsh D grew a entire hand from 3 to 7.. but my horse before only grew a inch. I have a 15.2 4yr old I would love to get to 16hh eventually but they might be pushing it.

I’m 5ft 6. My current ridden mare is 14.2 Connie/ cob and carries me fine (even at heavier weight) but does take up the leg! New pony is much finer so hopefully I won’t be too big! At least it will motivate me to keep weight off ?

If not even 3, she'll chunk out quite a bit by next summer especially if she has some ID in her. My money's on 15.1 and a half at 6 ;) (and you're definitely not too heavy for her!!)

She will make 15.1-2hh no bother I expect. She is barely 3yo, a late foal, lots of catching up to do. So yeah I would say she has a few inches in her yet height wise and anything could go width wise!

The general rule is if you want her grow she won't and if you want her to stop she'll carry on until she's 23 o_O

My unrecorded breeding but suspected at least 75% ID gelding went from 16.1- 17hh between 6 and 7. I was happy with 16.1. o_O

If she does have any ID in her, she will very likely carry ond growing until she's quite a bit older, and will definitely fill out too. I wouldn't be surprised if she even makes 16hh eventually.

Oh god! I don’t do big horses ?? I’m fairly sure she won’t grow loads but will be good if she makes 15/15.1?

I've had one a fair few years ago who was 15.2hh at 3 and by 7 years old, he was 17.1hh. Funnily enough, I hardly noticed as he had grown 'up' with me, so it was a gradual change.
