Off to see this lovely lady on sunday! 14.3hh, 12 years old, been a broodmare last few years, they don't have time to bring her back to riding but have tacked her up and sat on her and she was fine. Registered but never shown. Lives at a yard walking distance from my own so no need to faff with transport, and £700! All sounds pretty good so fingers tightly crossed it is all true! What do you all think??

They said because she's just been a broodmare. By the sounds of it they have a few, including a 3 year old from her so will get to see him too. Trying not to get too excited!!

Well I intend to bring her back into work, get her doing a little bit of various things and see how she gets on, try her in traffic, on her own and in company, etc etc. Like to get her out showing as well, don't know if she'd do well or not but it's something I'd like to do and not so fussed about winning for now. Depending on my finances in the next year I might sell on in the spring. Not sure really, just gonna see how it goes! I used to have a welsh mare who I sold and have always wanted one again. Am in the position for another horse and came across this girly and she looks great!

She looks lovely and is extremely cheap. I'd be interested to know how they didn't have time to ride her but did have time to be getting foals out of her, and why have they stopped now? Pregnancy gone wrong maybe? Def get her vetted!

i want her

- i love welshies, they've made great SJ'ers for my daughter! tryed her with other ponie's but they seem to jump the world!
Good luck with her! + great price!!!

She looks a nice sort, a lot of welsh mares have never been sat on and just been used to breed - it isnt something to be worried about thats just what some people do! As for showing she strips well but she has a horsey head (i dont think welsh d's should have a dished face but it should look more pony like) cant say anything about way of going until you get on her and see how she goes.

There are two distinct types of Wels D, one with a more pony, dished face, and the older type which are more like horses. I prefer the latter, as the former look too much like overgrown section c's.

Not everyone who hasn't done a lot with a horse has something to hide! I bought my boy at 10, he had only been used for hacking really and the owner was totally honest that this was all she wanted to do.

2 years later and he is schooling really well and will jump anything you point him at. Yes it has taken time, but it is possible in the end. He had never been shown until last thursday (and did me proud, coming 6th out of 12 in ridden M and M - not bad for a first go).

A lot of welsh broodmares will never see a saddle in their whole lives! So it is a bonus that she has been ridden in the past. Maybe there is a reason why she can't breed anymore, but if you want her as a riding horse why does that matter?

She looks a cracking type to me. Go with your eyes open and see if you like her.

Oh, and I paid a lot more than £700 for mine so you could have a real bargain!
