Have been to see new yard today and it seems fine but now i seem to be talking myself out of it but i don't know why
baisically i feel guilty for the YO of the yard that i am at now as i am the only person down there so feel as though i owe him the responsibilty of staying sort of thing.
The yard i went to see today the only bad thing i can say really is that there was ragwort in the fields but they were going to dig that out today and that it is just over 15mins away! She didn't mind that my cob occasionally runs off either which i thought may be a problem at some places.
What do you think i should do?

Why are you moving?

You shouldn’t stay out of guilt if it is not right for you or your horse, as long as you have a good reason for moving the old YO should understand.

As for the new yard, you really should be more excited if it is the right place.... I think the 2 issues are separate, you need to decided if you want to move then decide where too.

i want to move as its really muddy in winter like un to your knees, there agricultural animals going to be kept in the same building this winter so they will be stinking. I have lots of reasons but frightened i get moved and then don't like it

Is this the same YO that is really awful and put haylage in your horses field? If so, i'd be packing my stuff as we speak. You owe him nothing and should do whats best for you and your horse. Moving is always worrying, i'm sure you will be fine. If it means no more awful YO surely thats a good thing. All the best either way

Sounds like good enough reasons to me. Be brave moving is always difficult and worrying but if the ragwort gets moved then you have no negatives about the yard.

Go for it.

I know how difficult it is as I moved three times in 6 months; and I am now at my own rented place, very happy indeed.

No point feeling guilty. They're your YOs not your friends; it's business.

Good luck.

How many other yards have you looked at? I moved twice between Dec 08 and March 09. I'd do more research on other yards in your area so you have a back up plan if the first yard you move to doesn't work out. You can't plan for everything but knowing what else is available might set your mind at rest.

I moved recently and like you felt guilty! I went out and brought a really meaningful present and also a moon pig card

Your yard owner should understand that you need to do whats best for your horse and you can always still keep in touch and visit if you are good friends- i still do
