collagen granuloma? mostly found around the saddle area but can be present elsewhere.

or does he lay on this side when out in the field and gets damp alot?, maybe some residual rain scald. My tb had rain scald on her neck recently while she was still living out with just a standard neck rug on. It was wet for days and she didnt really dry out properly, then when I clipped her I found scabby areas on her neck. All clear now though with grooming and being in at night.

They look like bumps caused by dried sweat and blocked pores, I am surprised they are only on one side though. Give him a good wash with hibi scrub in hot water to really clean the skin and treat as if it is rain scald, it should clear up quickly now he is clipped as you can keep him cooler and remove sweat more easily.

my mare gets them when she is really fluffy, I think its just from getting too hot and not being able to keep them clean/ sweaty bits! she's much better when she is clipped out! much more hyginic

My warmblood mare gets these- she only gets them on one side and only ever on her bum and belly- she loves when I itch them so agreed that they must be itchy!

What does everyone do to get rid of them?? They don't seem to bug her at all but would rather they weren't there!

Our angloarab x mare always had these when we clipped her,we never really took much notice of them as they didnt bother her until earlier this year when one area became infected, she had to have antibiotics, seemed to clear up only to come back much worse on her back. \in the end she had to have antibs injected everyday for a week and was diagnosed with a staphyloccous skin infection. This winter when clipped she had none of these patches at all.

I would be interested in finding out what these are too as one of the Stallions at work has this - only on one side spreading from his shoulder across his withers and ribcage towards stomach. He is always washed off if he gets sweaty but seems to get very scurfy no matter how much I groom him and when the scabby bits come off they have little tiny yellow heads on them. He isn't bothered by them but they seem a bit itchy.

Wee S has them dont worry I was told its just like blocked pores :)

She had loads when i cliped her out fully in the pring and they got worse with her having a heavy coat even in the summer (double native cross ) hence why she was clipped out fully this summer :)

when I blanket clipped her they were there again but cleared up after a dettol wash down after clipping, Im pretty much betting she will have them when I clip her again shortly :)

They are itchy and she does scratch them.

When you say you found them clipping, do you mean noticeable the second the hair came off, or did you first see them a little while after? Only I do a horse that has a mild allergic reaction to clipper oil.

ditto this from the advice of my vet. When I brought C they were from his shoulder to flank on the off side only, now all gone except for one massive one - vet has offered to cut that one out if it won't go down.

Vets advice for mine was to keep areas clean, wash with hibbiscrub after riding and for the well established ones to poultice with hibbiscrub (water as hot as I could bear with hibbiscrub in it on some cotton wool & hold against the lumps). Worked well except for the one damned monster lump! Was also given compugel (sp.?) which worked well on the less developed ones.
