Hey :)
I haven't posted on ere for ages, but I was just wondering - Is there any foundations to help pay fees for competition riders?
Not as in comp fees as in this -
I've wanted to go to Stonar School for AGES, I went to see it in September and love it. I'm going to apply for a riding scholarship and a bursary, but we are still not sure whether we will be able to afford it as it is fairly expensive for us, even with discounts. We believe it'll really help me get into eventing etc and generally improve my riding.
So are there any foundations that'd help pay for fees if they think I have enough potential? If so, what are they?
Thank you :D:D:D

sometimes the schools themselves will have people who have donated money to help people with fees and things so maybe ask stonar?

I have a friend with a daughter at Stonar. She says the riding side has gone downhill since the new director arrived. They only seem interested in riders if they sign up for the the extra riding lessons with him that cost £30-40 / 1/2 hour or £900-1000 /term.

She says she just got a letter saying that things are changing again for next term with even less time now allocated to the weekly lessons that used to be included. She said she is not very happy about this and is looking to other schools for next year. Apparently a few other parents are also getting fed up, as it seems they are placing more emphasis on making money and less on improving the riding. She told me that even girls that ride for the school are loosing out. Shame as apparently it used to have a good reputation, but I suppose this is a sign of the times and economic situation.
