Hi guys, i have been told by hubby that i can get a car for towing, it will just be used for towing and carting hay here ane there jumps to the field etc.
Do you know what weight a fourtrack can tow and how they tow? My trailer is 700kgs and coblet is 470, would this be ok?
Thanks in advance
Kate x

I've got a 2.8 Fourtrak and it can tow 3.5t (the maximum). I have an old wooden trailer and tow one 16.2 tb and one 17. shire/tb and ive never had a problem so you'll be fine.

(PS there brill for a bit of snow off roading as we found out yesterday!)

The unladen weight of a Fourtrak is 1780kg so should cope with your trailer and cob but check the spec in the handbook if you look at one.

I used to tow a double trailer with a show pony on board - it coped but was horribly slow

hi i had a 2.8 which tows 3.5 ton .they are brill.if youre interested pm me.my old fourtrak failed mot in sept needed some work so i sold in px change for monterey.local garage to me and you ,have done work and its now back up for sale.i had it for 2 years and loved it.they are proper farmers 4x4 .not flashy but do the job and could pull a house

I've towed my IW510 with 16.3hh IDX on board with my fourtrak very happily for about 10 years (getting rather tired now ha ha!) and love it. It's a real workhorse though so no luxuries!

I have one and love it - it has towed a ridiculously heavy old richardson trailer up some meaty hills!

I think they are quite hard to find now - no longer made and people hang on to them.

Mine is a proper farmers truck! It sounds like a tractor, feels like driving a bus and is fab!!

i had one and i must say best thing iv ever owned for towing and to drive up bog hill snow ice bad rain loved myn but it just got old sold it in auto trader cant tell you how many calls i got could of sold it over again but theyr basic inside but id buy another if they made em had 2 shoguns n theyr not as good towing just bigger with all the posh things inside

we had one - sold it to move but wish i hadn't! It was the best for towing can go anywhere. I used it fo towing my pony but hubby used it to tow our 16.3hh warmblood in a ifor williams 510. no worries!! Would like another if anyone has one!

Loved my fourtrak! Used to tow 900kg trailer with 15.2hh without a problem.
Got a Nissan X trail now and it struggles with 900kg trailer and 2 shetlands!! Would swap it tomorrow if could afford!!

well within their capabilities!! I have a fourtrack they have a towing capacity of 3500kg, mine is great with my ifor and 2 heavy cobs, not to mention legal!! Tough little tow cars, and mine feels very stable even driving on the ice!!

i have never owned one but lilym kindly transported my nutty mare to a show at the beginning of the year and you didn't even know you were towing anything (as a passenger, i have been in a kia sorento and a mishbish and they feel really heavy when towing even as a passenger)

they are also quite cheap to insure and buy (did have a look when i was looking for a car)

cheap to insure - yes!!! mine is about £170 per year protected NCB!! Gwen - did you OH ever get over what Jazz did to his car??

Loved mine to bits sadly it failed its MOT last year at 16yrs old, would not have been practical to repair, so scrapped it. Tried so hard to find another, but needed a replacement quickly. Not a week goes by when I dont say I wish i still had the Fourtrack, especially today as I was sliding sideways in 4 wheel drive Maverick

Why on earth did they stop making these. Weve had 2 and they are fantastic. Now have a shogun sport, as the dog struggled to get in the back of the 4trak, being only 2 doors. Ok looks all posh with its leather interior etc but the old fourtrak beats it hands down.

I agree - why did they stop?

Mines' 15yrs old now....it's cost me A LOT this year in parts and repairs, but it's perfect and ideal for the work I need it for.

They are getting harder and harder to come by, and I don't want anything else other than another Fourtrak. Hence I'm keeping mine going!!
