Hi I'm going to look at and thinking of having a foxy box built. Has anyone got any feedback on them or any advice on companies? Thanks in advance for any help!

Do you mean foxy twin horse boxes? Got mine from there a few years back and it's fab, great little box. There are a few threads on here about 3.5t boxes. Be careful of the pay load ie carrying capacity, as many can't take two big horses. And a lot of people now go for solid bulkheads and a separate groom area so horses can't jump the partition.

We had a Foxy Twin made for us in 2011 but later found out that it was made by Chaigley so it may be worth finding out who they use to make them now as if we had known we could have just gone straight to Chaigley and saved, probably a few k? We didn't do as much research as we should have done but the lorry was great fun and worked very well and we sold it at the end of summer for not much less then what we payed for it! A friend has a newer build from them and has had a bit of trouble with the paint work and their attitude to it. We are now the very very lucky owners of a Boss lorry which is amazing, Freddie Gover also makes some lovely 3.5ton lorries based near Gatwick and I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem viewing some mid build if that's what you wanted to do, it is very interesting to see exactly what goes on and is involved in the build, I'm not sure if that is an option with Foxy Twin? I would have happily kept my Foxy though and our Chasis was super, but I coukdnt turn down the offer of an upgrade. Happy shopping!!

There is someone selling foxy boxes down the road from me I've seen him showing them to buyers when I've been out walking they look really nice but I don't know much about them, if your local to leeds I can find the details for you

I have one. I love it and it gets loads of compliments, BUT...

I had to be very fussy about them finishing things off properly, I highly recommend an in-person inspection when it's at the 'nearly finished' stage.

There were two (non safety related) build issues that were never resolved to my satisfaction by Foxy and I ended up taking the lorry to another builder to get them fixed properly.

I asked that builder to look at every inch of it and they said that it was basically safe and fit for purpose but a few minor corners had been cut, e.g. using cheaper screws to fix light covers that didn't have an extended outdoor life before they rusted, not reinforcing tie rings etc.

It was delivered nearly a month late so if you need one for the start of the season be very sure that they can deliver when they say they will.

It was from the guy near Leeds. I'd rather not say how much I paid, but it was one of the higher-end models. Great value for a good looking box that does the job I need it to - but I could have really done without all the hassle listed above, which took the shine off it.

With the kerbside weight of the cab and chassis I don't believe there is any 3.5 ton box that can legally carry two big horses, is there? You would need a payload of approaching 1500 kilos after conversion for horses, humans and kit.

I agree. Fortunately I forgive rent things with my boys so will only be one in at a time.

Oh no, lucky escape there then. Just as well they were so rubbish at getting back to me! They came up quite highly rated on here!
