Anybody had a horse with a hairline fracture before stifle or above? we have a horse in Leahurst at the moment but no-one seems to know what the problem is. Turned him out sound when i went to fetch in he could not weight bear. He had his back done on the saturday (2 days off) was ridden tues and injury Wednesday. Raised white blood cell and very high temp...had numerous xrays sans ect all inconclusive. Leahurst still seem to think its a fracture or something but im wondering if its something more under lying thats been aggrevated perhaps septic arthritis?? answers on a post card any experiences with any thing like this i'd love to hear about coz hes bamboozling everyone!! booked for a Gammer 2moro.

Agree best possible place to find out & going with a bone scan first is the best thing to start with.

Good luck, who's dealing with your horse at Leahurst?? Dr Milner dealt with mine who also confused them all with a very weired lameness issue. We got to the bottom of it though & i was pleased with how Dr Milner went about it all.

Yes She's head of Oesteo i think isn't she? I agree he's in the best place but hes been there nearly a week and they are still puzzled as to whats causing his lameness/ temp.
He's also had his pain relief upped 3 times. numerous scans xray etc, but all inconclusive :(

Was a lady that saw him...i'll find name and post back. Yes worrying a week 2moro and absolutly nothing...No lumps or bumps no swelling just a high temp raised white blood cell and a very very lame pony :(

They have found nothing. He's being put to sleep today. They are struggling to control his pain. We hoped to bring him home to do it but it wouldn't be fair to move him :(
