Hi - don't know of any healing supplements but just thought I would try to cheer you up slightly.

My horse fractured his pedal bone in June 2005 - he had six months permanent box rest with bar shoes and I got the all clear to get back on in December 05. Had to school for 3 months and was given all clear to jump in March 2006.

(Touch wood) I have never had any problems with his pedal bone since and he currently jumps Newcomer height/XC's at intro height/hunts and does dressage at Elementary level. He recently got x-rayed in that foot (for something else unrelated) and it has healed really well so please try to think positive. It may seem like a long time off but it will hopefully be worth it in the end

My mare fractured her pedal bone with a gap of half an inch. She was on complete box rest for 3 months with a bar shoe on and she healed completely.

Was riding again soon after the box rest. That was 15 years ago and she is still going at 25!! Didn't feed any suppliments. Do hope it all works out fine for you. Keep us all posted and good luck.

Hi stranger! (Except from username and diagnosis I know who you are.

) I have everything crossed for your super little chap - actually thought Raj might have the same problem last week - but he's now been diagnosed with arthritis of the coffin joint.

Haven't had a horse with a pedal bone fracture but know of several who all healed well - so hopefully Timmy will do just as well!!

You could try strong bone from global herbs. Tendoneaze helped my horse with a split DDFT.

You could also try limestone for extra calcium for a strong healing fracture. Vitamin D found in sunshine is also important for strong bones.

Hydrotherapy can help with the healing process.

I was chatting with a girl on the BD forum and she told me about her horse fracturing it's splint bone. Anyway she used a spa and when her vet came to re x ray he had to ask which leg had been the problem leg as there was no sign that there had ever been any damage.

I have a document which details how hydrotherapy has helped with different injuries from open wounds to tendons, arthritis, laminitis etc which I am happy to forward on to you, however I don't think you can send attachments on the PM facility on here so would need to have a normal email address to send it to.

Thank you for the replies..least i can hope we can return to normal work why does it always happen this time of year we hunted through winter and was super fit ready for shows..never mind not actually knowing anyone who had this problem its good to know they should heal ok..Thanks

I have a friend who swears by magnetic boots and rugs for promoting healing, rather expensive so see if you can borrow some.

Hi All
My horse has just been diagnosed with strain of the collateral ligament to the coffin joint this was diagnosed through a MRI scan has anyone got anything positive on recovery. I am struggling with the box rest as she is competition fit. Going to try Rest and Recover from Hilton Herbs to see if it will calm her.

mines just finished 3 months box rest after fracturing PB in hind leg; healing on xray looks good.

she's been on Better Bones supplement.

My horse had a hailine fracture of the pedal bone last year. Was diagnosed in May 2007, she was then on box rest until September 2007. Was allowed to start riding her again in October and started jumping her in January of this year. She is now jumping discovery and at PC camp last week was jumping all the open XC fences and *touch wood* she has stayed completely sound

I know it sounds like a long time but it will heal

'KIMBY'

As cyrilsmum said try magnets i have been using bioflo magnets for around three years and my friend even longer i have only ever known them help with healing i have been putting them on mine everynight since his fracture. As for the box rest not really sure with your injury but my horse will box walk so i have got him on a really small paddock where he can see others and the vet said this is fine aslong as he is quiet.
