Does anyone have any experience of this? Would be interested to know if you managed to get the horse back sound again. If so how long it took, what kind of rehab you took, and what work the horse is now doing.

I know it's the kind of injury where each case varies from horse to horse, but just interested in other people's stories, and hoping to hear some nice successful ones!!

He went to vets because he was lame. After nerve blocks they x rayed both front feet for comparison. They said that had the fracture been in his lame foot they would have recommended that he be PTS. They commented that the navics were funny shape but did say they had not seen any other Clyde navic bones so maybe all like that. They never found anything wrong with the lame leg even when he went to Rossdales. We brought him home, turned him out, rode him and just got on with it and he was fine. Guess we were just lucky....his half brother though was a real wuss.

I had a 2* eventer that went very lame due to navicular problems.... my case wasn't exactly the same but I highly recommend leather pads to absorb the concussion of hard ground and jumping..... they are a 10er more each time he is shod and are well worth it. He is now 15 and will be out eventing again this season at PN level..... be careful and picky what ground you ride on though.... it makes a big difference. x

Sounds like you were very lucky indeed dictchjumper

Thanks for the recommendation chick1989, will speak to our farrier about that. He's currently in egg bars, which are helping, but still not sound. We definately won't be doing any work on hard ground or jumping for a long time, but it's lovely to hear a success story. I'm glad your boy is still out eventing, I would be so happy if mine was in the same position in a few years time, just need to keep our fingers crossed!
