Does anyone have any experience of fractured sacral bone (which has caused nerve danage down her back legs) and fracture vertebrae at the base of the neck?
My horse has just been diagnosed with both of these and I'm looking for any one who's had similar, positive or negative, experiences.
Also in vets

thanks, not holding out too much hope as the chance of having a horse with these injuries and still walking around and would be happy to work (obviously shes not) is very unlikely!

Very sorry too. My WB has chronic sacro illiac dysfunction - that's just ligament and nerve damage no fractures that I am aware of.
I had his sacrum mobilised by a holistic vet who is also an osteopath and acupuncture trained. She's brilliant and really helped my horse.

You could speak to someone like her as I am sure she will have had experience of a fractured sacrum and be able to give you an honest prognosis and any treatment advice even if you are too far away for her (she's at Newmarket). Good luck :)

My horse had a fractured pelvis but without any nerve damage at 5 and is now 19 and still going strong. He had 3 months box rest and then 3 months in very restricted turnout - like a round pen. I left him a further 6 months as I had something else to ride. The fracture was diagnosed using nuclear bone scintigraphy.

My pony reared over in the field as a yearling and fractured her withers. I was lucky I saw her go over and so she was attended to immediately. She healed naturally and is still fit and well. Not quite the same fracture as your horse but she is fine to be ridden and never cold backed.

Hope yours makes a good recovery.
