fractured pelvis!

We bought a horse from Ireland years ago for hunting.
When we were coming back on the ferry, the wagon was 3 infront forward facing & same in the back.
Nick decided that there wasa more room infront of the partitions & tried to jump over. He only got his front end over so was stuck there for quite a while (as we weren't aloud down to check on them. Not happy about).
He fractured his pelvis & was on box ret for 8 months. Half way through he use to get so excited of us bringing grass in for him he use to buck in the stable naturally making me cringe!!
Luckily he maintained a reasonable amount of weight.

Anyhow he made a full recovery & could hunt all day & jump 5bar gates! So it's not all doom & gloom, just thing positive!

Here is a pic of him out on a fun ride!

I'm really sorry to hear about your horse. I hope he makes a full recovery. All cases are obviously very different but my horse (ex-racer) is believed to have had a fractured pelvis when a youngster. At his vetting I was told he would never go round Badminton but should be fine to do RC type activities and low-level aff. He is lucky to have no muscle wastage, just one side of his pelvis is slightly higher than the other (but I think this has evened up a bit since I've had him).

Good luck xx

My friends horse fractured his pelvis several years ago and spent many months on box rest. He has made a more or less complete recovery and having ridden him recently, he is fine! If you more like more details let me know and I'm sure my friend will help in any way she can.
