Great ride from Tom, wasn't as good a win as at Newmarket but in fairness Tom could prob have asked him for a bit more. Zoffany definitely belied his SP finishing a strong second. Was not a great race and the hard race at Newmarket appears to have had an effect but a win is a win! Sad to hear the ATR crew already doubting him!

The horse is a bloody good horse. He is also genuine which is why he won. I do, however, think Tom gave him a bad ride. Went far too early on a track that is harder than Newmarket. You could see he was backpeddling at 7.5furlongs and it was the advantage that he nicked turning for home that kept him in front. Dodgy ride, bloody fantastic horse though! I was shouting on Wootten Bassett as he my horses wee brother but he is clearly not a group 1 horse this year.

Fantastic little hoss - I was lucky enough to see him in the flesh at Newmarket & he made mince meat of the others! Although he didnt win in the spectular fashion as the guineas, he pulled off after his pacemaker & made the others look rubbish - love that horse!

He went for it far too far from home. Brilliant horse, poor ride from TQ.
There's no need for him to win by miles, but that was bit close for comfort.

Actually I think TQ did give Frankel a good ride. Listening to Sir Henry afterwards it appears that the team have had doubts as to whther Frankel can run in the field and the orders are to go early. Watching it i did think he went too soon, but that is the way hes been ridden in his last few races. Sounds like there might be different tactics next time out now that they know a bit more about him. Also think he did get idle rather than tire out in the last 2 furlongs. Another top class win though!

The field was way off the pace and the horse prefers strong pace. He trusted him and went and kept him up to it when he idled in front. Good ride from Tom and shows how well he knows the horse. Many would have criticised him for going too early on Midday in Kentucky 2009 and he knew her so well he got the result! Even when the horse idled he gave him a more hands and heels ride instead of overusing the stick

Good ride? Henry's hedging on what his riding orders were in the interview afterwards showed things hadn't gone to plan, imo. Zoffany was coming back at him in the final eighth and tiring rather than idling would be my choice of words....

I think the only reason he won the Guineas by so far was because all of the other jockeys were asleep and following the movements of the wrong horse. He certainly didn't appear to stay a mile today. But he still won so the rollicking will be slightly less than if he had lost the race. And he is by my favourite sire - Galileo :D

Zoffany was staying on like a bullet out of a gun though he does seem to have quite a high head carraige which is unusual for O'Brian horses.

On Cecil's website:“Any win at Royal Ascot is lovely. That was a bit nerve-wracking and it didn’t go to plan. The plan was to go just before the bend - like the Royal Lodge when he sprinted away.”

EKW -Recital? Roderic O'Connor? High head carriage seems a theme especially with the Montjeus

Thinking on it they do seem to go quite high but I have never really noticed quite how high until Zoffany yesterday to be honest. Maybe I have spent too much time watching Dylan Thomas and Yeats.

The height of the head carriage probably has more to do with the horse - conformation, temperament and movement rather than who trains them. Aiden O'Brien will school them on the flat so they have all the help they need but some put their heads up because they won't try while others do it to try to get more air while others just do it.
I think Tom Queally will agree it wasn't his finest hour and a wonderful horse saved him. He made up ground on the pacemaker very quickly and "used" his horse very early and on the stiffest part of the climb out of Swinley Bottom. A lesser horse would have got caught.

Perhaps they will next run Frankel over a distance more suited to him...? Esp as the rest of the world is coming to realise that he won't settle for long - looks to me (and many others in the industry) that if he's pressured early on by other horses coming at him he'll fight back and won't settle and will lose his race there.
