As I don't expect him to be jollying still next year - Mummy Ester has promised him no more preening!- and because by default we had qualified for a champions of champions evening performance (first time we've ever done an evening) I have some photos. Realistically we only went for the photos and I've been waiting for them to arrive, currently still have one print of me and one print of someone else :D.

I decided (foolishly) to try and home-make a concours outfit, with more than a little help from a few HHOers who provided dresses, hats, sewing machines and ability to use them and a pony to trial it on as mine is so far away.

Unfortunately it started peeing with rain about half an hour before we were due in and that contributed to him then havin a total meltdown going in with everyone else because of the collecting ring set up and the speakers :rolleyes3:- hard nut life and firestarter were not the best choices :p so didn't settle in the concours as we had to stand still too quick, we needed a good trot round. Apparently one should do sitting trot as it looks more elegant... doing sitting trot on something so bouncy and compact has never looked elegant, he wasn't designed for that! :D

He followed up with being tense and therefore making himself look stiffer than he really is in his M+M championship class, in which the rest of the competitors probably only just added up to his age. He got a lovely rosette for coming last and I still reckon he was robbed by the forester who had to be walloped round his individual show. Mine might have looked a bit wonky but at least he was willing and off the leg.
He won't be too gutted if he doesn't see me until Christmas now, as I end up doing all the 'nasty to him' jobs!

photos purchased with social media rights hence the logo.

He is a smart chap, he will be leaving some pretty big hooves to fill, not sure anyone will quite match up, although you never know they might go XC ;) :D

we got some lovely rosettes for coming last :D I forgot to add those.

Lovely photos, you both absolutely brilliant. What a way to bow out of competing him.

You keep mentioning hypothetical new horse....are you on the hunt now, or is it a post winter plan?

Realistically it is a post house buying see what is left plan :). I was slightly thwarted when a friend sent me a picture of a very smart welshie she has acquired temporarily. I was asking about him for another hhoer and then said I needed first dibs but we will see. I'm trying to be sensible and grown up but it's hard not having him about.

Wow, you look fab together, what a way for Frank to bow out from showing.

Is that glitter on Frank's sheet, or is it just soaking wet :eek3:?

Haha to you hankering after another welshie. I have declared before that any future horse of mine must not have any welsh in it anywhere, but they do get in under the skin, don't they :D?!

No the dress material is just glittery itself. we hid under the horse walker which is why the rain didn't help his stiffness, I probably shouldn't have underestimated how much a half hour hack to the venue helps instead of trailering too.

I know! This one's saving grace is that it is only 14.2 which realistically is too small currently at least. I had previously said I would go get some lessons on more helpful beasts to decide whether I wanted to jump in future or not before considering one but equally can't imagine not having one :D. At least I fully understand their OMG that has changed, that light is on, that music is playing, there are people meltdowns though I'm not sure how practical having the same triggers really is :D :D. This plan is currently thwarted by the fact that doing weights to rehab my back is producing plenty of muscle but not really reducing my overall weight and the limits of anyone I've looked at so far require me to lose a couple of stone before I can jump with them so maybe spring time!?

he looks really fab in the photos, what a nice memento :)

(I kind of can't imagine not having a welsh now either, even when I get the mythical WB I think I will need to have something small and awkward to bring along at the same time :D)

The hat came courtesy of Rara007, who also provided the fancier stock and a navy jacket for the M+M class. It was the existence of said hat which made me think we might do it ;), partly on the basis that I anticipate it may be a long time before I trust anything else in a topper... I did actually do the class in my normal hat as he had been such a plonka in the atmosphere.
