Well the little fella has settled in really well, and even had a saddle on. We had the instructor out last week to introduce him to what lunging is, well she had barely started and he got freaked out, and managed to run through a 5 bar wooden gate and cost us lots of money!!.. Something from his past triggered this reaction we feel.
We are going to work on Freddie thinking for himself a little and not relying on us quite so much, we did alot of join up with him when he was very wild, and he now just follows us everywhere, and we think may be lunging will not be for him, not bothered really as I don't lunge horses!
For the past week or so we haven't taken him out for any inhand walks, but just spent a little time grooming him and just generally spending some time with him.
Yesterday he was tied up for 30 mins while we pruned and pampered him, and for the first time ever he had his ringlets combed out in his tail, he was very very good about it, actually fell asleep, he seems to be very patient for a 2 yr old! Anyway his future job will be a hunter and I thought he could have some practice having his tail plaited, I didn't do it very tight as I felt very vulnerable at his backend, his bottom is higher than my head and he had his tail clamped, but I need not have worried he was perfectly behaved as usual, here are some photos for you to enjoy or his pampering session, this was 20 mins before my daughter fell off the pony and broke her elbow yesterday
He's looking rather bum high again
