I know advertising isnt allowed but on preloved in Herts(Bishop Stortford) is free to good home baby (horse). I think it will make 15.2h .............just thought I would let someone know if they can offer it a good home(find this annoying as it could end up in wrong place but looks nice one).

I suppose its not advertising as its not for sale as such ie money not changing hands....

Wee shame, if I was closer I would offer help but I'm on the other side of the UK!
Hope someone nice takes him on

Poor little mite , i probley get shot for this, but why do people keep breeding if ,(a) they can't afford them or (b)and don't have any room for them
He is just another one in a long line of other horses that are in the same situation

I want a youngster in the spring and I'm saving up like mad coz everybody wants silly money! I'm tempted to phone but it's not really what I'm looking for I just feel sorry for poor thing

He can come here for the winter if someone wants him and will pay to have him gelded and wormers and stuff. My two youngsters are wintering out and I have loads of grass.

Not shot by me Ischa, I am in total agreement with you! Too many people breeding horses that are going to end up in the markets. It is time people stopped breeding just because they have a mare and started thinking about the quality (not saying the colt is poor quality) and use of the foal they are breeding. Condemning these babies to possibly miserable lives. Think before you breed!

It just really gets to me when people know the financial problems we are in , but also the amount of unwanted horses and foals there are , it's got to a point the rescue places have no accommodation for the unwanted animals ,
I do fill sorry for him and would of had him if I was closer I just hope he is not like many And ends up in a loving , and a permerment home for life

Maybe he hasn't got both testicals down!!! Just a thought as to why he's free. Not right but maybe it's a way off getting out the situation.
Just a thought as he's a colt.

Good luck whoever ends up with the foal. By the way its nothing to do with MOI! I just get any new adverts on preloved pinged to my in box and immediately thought...OH NO...quick get to the H&H forum as I know so many on here have tons of experience, unfortunately I dont.

As its free more chance it ends up in wrong hands etc... agree with WHY?!? But

please let us know if anyone manages to secure him. Good luck.

If It's who I think it is they sort of deal in them. Buying from sales, feeding up and selling on. I bought one of the woman 2 years ago and other than being full of worms with rubbish feet he was great.

Have him trotted up in hand also ensuring you see him walked backwards a few strides too. See him being caught and turned out this will allow you to see if he's bargy and what he's like with others. Watch him in stable to see if he cribs. Check teeth for age. Match passport to horse.

If u haven't seen my post please do note to check to see if he's got 2 balls, it really is the different between a simple castration and a HELL off a lot off money for a op. I always have a good feel when I view colts, it's important. And it's only the colts who have 1 ball near where I live that is always up free to good home.

we are going to see him wednesday. what do we need to look for/do with him at viewing ? only ever been to look at backed horses!

All very well saying ask for him to be trotted up. He might not even be halter broken, let alone, wormed, weaned and feet trimmed. :( I think you might need to go with an open mind, and decide if he's for you or not. Just look and see if everything looks reasonably normal, straight legs, reasonable looking feet, more or less in proportion etc. Assuming he is still there when you go. Oh, and does he have a passport? It is costing more to passport them at the moment than they are worth, so do check this.

There are going to be lots of this kind of advert, hopefully some of these unwanted colts will end up in good homes.

I bought a youngster last year and I am a total novice in this department so I took a trusted friend with me to have a look too. I picked Olly out of a field full of youngsters or should I say he picked me!

he caught my eye as he was bold and cheeky and the only one out of the field who came over to say hello. I visually checked for nice feet and a kind eye. He had good conformation and he was a confident friendly chap. A year on and he is now settling nicely and is walking out in hand. I did however have a nightmare when I first got him home with him escaping all the time so if you have not had a youngster before please read my previous posts!!

I naively bought Olly and although all seems fine now it's been a tough year. Make sure you are prepared for the hard work a youngster brings. There is never a dull moment.

The best piece of advice I can give you is don't let your heart rule your head. Good luck.x

Poor thing, hope he is healthy & has dropped and a good home finds him.

He's very local to me but I just don't have the resources to rear/back/train a little one.

Good luck Taz, let us know how the viewing goes! :)
