Free Gatehouse Hat, Hope Valley Saddlery

Thank you for posting this! My hat slipped whilst sailing over a cross country fence on the weekend - a sign that the lump on my head has gone down and I need to go back down a size but my old 54 is a bit too small still but a 55 is perfect!
Although I don't think the Gatehouse hat meets the new safety standards for competing, it will be perfect for riding at home :)
 
Both the hats are compliant, HS1 always has been conquest mark 1 wasn't this is the mark II so now has pas.
 
Glad it's been use to people! I don't fit gatehouse hats so patiently waiting to see if they do a similar thing with Charles owen hats before winter :)
 
Ahhh okay I knew HS1 met the safety standards but wasn't sure about the gatehouse ones as I knew there were disputes about them last year. Thought maybe that was why it was free! Even better though that they both can be used :D
 
Anyone know how the fit compares between the HS1 and Conquest MKII? I have a HS1 which fits great but fixed peak hats tend not to sit well on my round head!
 
My hats arrived this morning :D . I usually wear a basic Champion skull hat, to give you an idea of the sort of thing that fits my head. I ordered one size bigger than normal for the Gatehouse hats. This was purely because I was ordering online and I am terrible for not sending things back if no good, so I needed to be sure they would go on my head. I have occasionally bought a hat in my usual size and found it too much of a squeeze to get it on and gives me a headache.

The Gatehouse skull hat is deeper than the peaked hat, which felt a fraction shallow on me but still a good enough fit. The skull hat was tighter than the other and I was glad I had gone up a size. The peaked hat felt a tiny bit loose. I think perhaps the peaked hat is a slightly different shape and not quite right for my head. It felt more like the fit of a Charles Owen Ventura I used to have which was an adequate fit but not perfect for me. Both came in a padded hat bag and both are very smart. Overall I am very pleased with them. Super exciting to finally have two upto date fashionable hats. I could never justify the expense before.

I fit a hs1 well, lots of others don't fit me, including the conquest mk1 - I bought an air rider instead :p
