Free Gifts from Pet Plan Insurance

I took a new policy in January this year, the offer was take the policy out online and receive a free Horseware Jacket (this isnt' the only reason I took it out but I did fany a new Jacket ) - I waited until end of March and called them cause it still hadn't arrived, they said it was "in process" and would be with me within a week, I still haven't received it, phoned again today, they said they are now not avaialble as the offer now is a Bodywarmer.

So my question is has anyone taken a policy that promises a free gift, AND actually recieved the gift ?

Yes, we took out a new policy about 5 weeks ago and about a fortnight ago I got my gillet, which is lovely, but it was that on offer at the time. If I had taken out a policy when it was the coat and not got it I would be raising merry hell - the day you signed up it was a coat, so that is what you should get! Phone and ask to go up the management levels!

when i took out my policy it was with a free first aid kit, after two months i hadnt recieved it, called them, they had run out and waiting new stock, three weeks later i called again, and again 2/3 weeks after that

all in all took nearly 4 months to recieve my gift

Give them hell! They won't mind refusing paying for a claim I have just taken out insurance with them and getting the Gillet... was 20th march and no documents through post yet, so I phoned earlier to be told I am not insured yet because I said the horse is under 1,,, nope i said he was 1 as hes not 2 until end of may.. they say oh sorry will send documents out tomorrow..so I assume I wasn't insured before!!

I got my jacket in January as they said it would come after my first DD payment had been taken (I took out a new policy in December). I love my jacket, it was warm all winter!

Thanks for the reminder devilwoman! I took out a policy in February and haven't received my jacket yet. I'll ring them tomorrow and let you know what they say....

A friend of mine took out a policy with Petplan last October. She got her jacket in January, after alot of chasing!

Quick update... Rang to advise there was no sign of my jacket, was advised I would be sent a gilet as the offer had changed, politely told them I wasn't happy about that as it was the jacket that really needed and that was the offer around at the time I took out the policy. A couple of days later my jacket arrived...

I took out the policy and it took 3 months and 5 phonecalls to get my jacket!

I think you will find if you read the small print it does actually say subject to stock levels and they have the right to offer an alternative. Sorry to burst youyr bubble.
ps petplan arent as good as they used to be i dont think and obviously need the 'free' gifts to sell their insurance!! cheaper to use another provider and buy the damn thing for 30 odd quid.lol

i took insurance out with them 2 weeks ago and they said i would get a free body warmer. still havn't got it yet but she said it will take about 6/8 weeks because of backlog!

I took out my policy in March and got my gillet soon after my first DD came out, and I love it!

Definitely chase them - it's well worth it!

Completely agree. (If its the horseware stuff thats on the website now that people are waiting for ,I got the horseware jacket and gilet for £25 and £15.)

I've have all my horses insured with them but as i work at a vets if i ring up i receive a discount so i never get to receive a free gift as it's with online policy's only which is a bit gutting but tbh would rather have a discount every month!

I took out 2 policies and I'm awaiting the bodywarmers...it said up to 28 days from the 1st DD I think...so any day now...although after reading this I might be waiting a little longer!!!!

I am another who got the jacket, it did take a couple of months tho but I didn't have to chase them.

It is a good jacket. Well worth waiting for

I took out the policy in Nov and promptly forgot all about the jacket which was a very pleasant surprise when it arrived on a freezing cold January day!

I got my Jacket although I did have to ring them once. Only problem was they sent me an XXL!!!!! Lovely Jacket though and hubby comandeered it when I discovered just how big it was!
