This is very cheeky I know but gonna ask..

I am skint as most of us are and was wondering is there such a thing as free lessons? maybe someone who is learing to become an instructor or something how do they learn? or do they charge less?

I havent had a proper lesson in errr.. well lets just say many years, and I cant really afford any atm. so was wondering if anyone out there in the area would like to give me a free lesson I would be happy to accept..

My bestest friend - seahorse on here - has a fortnightly lesson which costs her a fortune!!!!
I am very lucky in that when I am able to ride my youngster she will come into the school and not so much as give me a 'lesson' but use what she has learnt to help me bring my youngster on. I have since had a lesson with the same trainer and have found what seahorse has taught me very helpful.
Is there not someone on your yard that has regular lessons that could do the same for you say in exchange for mucking out or something. You could then save and have a lesson with the same instructor on a less frequent basis.

Why don't you try helping someone with a horse in return for free lessons? People are often quite receptive to ideas like that as it saves them time and money. Aslong as it's a decent person though!!

Down at my place, they take on Students and train them up for each BHS stage, So they get 2 free lessons a day and one theory lesson a day, but you do have to work 7-5:30.
You get payed for the work, and the lessons for training are free. I seem to think it's quite a fair deal.

I don't know if anywhere near you do that?
or are you already qualified? etcetc.
search around!

It was just a cheeky shot in the dark.. lol.. Oh well Obviously anyone giving me a lesson etc could come play on my interesting chestnut mare :P

Why don't you see if your YO will give you a lesson in return for mucking out a few boxes for them on the weekend?

I look after YO's horses one weekend a month and generally help out in return for free lessons from her - shes a qualified instructor

I do this, I work my friend's yard for about 2.5-3 hours on a weekend morning and get a lesson in return every week.....it would work out that I get paid about £10 an hour, good deal me thinks!!
