As I am struggling to find a freelance groom I am now willing to offer someone free or reduced part livery in return for yard work. I need someone flexible and reliable some mornings, some evenings and the odd full day (am and pm- not being there all day)
Yard in Newbury, Berkshire

Forgive me but if the person is going to be doing yard work anyway then will their horse not be on DIY?

So, I think maybe you should do some sums...

- how much would DIY livery be in your area (with similar facilities to what you're offering)?
- how many hours work are you expecting the person to do? (this will need to be clear at some poitn anyway)
- and finally... how much per hour does that work out at? A 'wage eqivalent'?

e.g. if DIY would be 100pounds/month and you're asking for, say, 3 hours work a day on average for 30 days a month that is only just over a 1 pound an hour, which isn't a lot!

PS - I clearly need dinner - terrible spelling above and it sounded mean! Just meant you should think it through - not that what you're offering is necessarily a bad deal :-)

I only want someone to do a few hours a week, then when they are not there or riding there horse it is on part livery - all feed, hay, bedding, grooming etc done and paid for.

All I need is an hour in the morning twice a week and putting to bed twice a week, and about 3 whole days a month so there is alot of time they wouldnt be doing anything, dont think that is a bad deal, it would be based on about 8.50 per hour not how you have worked it out.
