pity she wasn't closer as i would of been interested in her as a companion to jayjay and moo bag

hope you find something soon x

Just a long shot- has anyone checked her out for white line disease? It sounds a bit like it; the hoof looking normal but the outer bit of the hoof wall just flaking away, compromised by an inner fungal infection. She & her mum could both have had it if they were kept in similar conditions.

laralilley - everything everyone has already said about advertising, breeding etc is true. But I just wanted to pass on some info my MWCF farrier gave to my friend who has a 9yr old TB with crap feet. She has been feeding him biotin because she couldn't afford Farriers Formula but his feet weren't improving at all. My farrier told her that giving biotin to a horse is great if the horse has a biotin deficiency but if he doesn't, it's a total waste of time. Your friend would do well to invest in Farriers Formula or Formula 4 Feet and Cornucrescence to really help the growth of good hoof horn. Won't be short term - would be months before she saw any difference but if the horse was worth having in the first place, doesn't your friend think that she's worth trying to save now?

There is something decidedly unattractive about bossy know it alls that can't offer a civil bit of advice to a newbie. Shame on you. Laralilley good luck in finding this mare a home, obviously you love her very much. x

I am not having a dig, but peoples circumstances do change, also this is not the person who bred her is it? At the end of the day the poster came on for some help & most people have given some good ideas, so hopefully it will work out for them all.

I'm not having a dig either, but I am starting to think you are stalking me, since we had a disagreement in breeding

. Let it go.
I know this is not the person who bred the thing - I do read posts - but what was the original breeder thinking, to produce another life from a patently unsuitable mare?
The original breeder/owner should be taking responsibility, not having the horse PTS, or palming her off on the OP on this thread.
Hope that made things clear.

That's a NICE mare - shame she's not grey so I could hide her amongst mine! (My husband would KILL me if I got another mare - for whatever purpose.)

Is she pure Cleveland Bay? If so, VERY unusual for them to have bad feet and I'd be wondering about some vit/min deficiency - or perhaps just bad shoeing. I certainly wouldn't condemn her as a broodmare without investigating the foot issue thoroughly - more horses get bad feet than are born with them!

She is lovely looking

Apart from the bad feet, would she pass a vetting? Also, I know you said she's difficult to handle, what is she like to ride?
I have been thinking about getting a project to work with and then sell on for a while, and she would be ideal, as I would turn her away for the winter and then start again early spring. This would give me some time to hopefully sort her feet out before starting any serious work.

Have to say that after some of the rather pious criticism the OP suffered when asking for help, that I hope her critics pm her to apologise; looking at these pictures the horse is a real credit to her.

Hi everyone, firstly I would like to thank everyone for their support on this post and even the people who were critical, thank you for opening up such a great debate. Believe me I agreed with everything everyone said about breeding etc.

Just to let you all know that I passed on her details to Twemlows and they contacted the owner. She turned them down. She then contacted me and told me I was to have nothing more to do with her, her horse and her yard and that she would find someone to take her on and keep her on the yard. Obviously the threat to have her PTS was just designed to get me to take her back....

So I have to say she is no longer available.

Oh and on a continued thread - I am now looking for a horse that I could exercise/school for someone. I'm based in Herts. Do any of you know anyone?
