Hi
We are looking to loan, to an EXPERIENCED ADULT HOME, our lovely 15.3hh 4year old, 3/4 Thoroughbred 1/4 Trakhener Mare.
She has excellent blood lines, - She is the grand daughter
of Kostalany, the German Trakenhner who is the grand sire of many top
dressage horses including Totilas. Her dam's family include a grade 2
European champion and grand national winners, there is even an oaks
winner in there.
She was bred for Dressage, but unfortunately she is not suited to this, as she would rather her mouth was left alone.
She is very calm, forward going, and can go for miles, we feel that she would be greatly suited to an Endurance Home.
We are looking for a loan home with an endurance person, who is adult and experienced in handling youngsters, she has a lot to learn before competition however we realise this and this is why we are offering her for free loan.
If the loaner feels the mare is not suited to the job, we of course would take her back immediately. However if they felt that they wanted to keep the mare we would happily sell her to them for a nominal fee, as this is not about money but about her home which is extremely important to us!

I am at a loss of where to advertise such a horse, as we are wanting to ensure she does NOT go to anyone wishing to do dressage, as im sure they will all be impressed with her breeding, but she is not suitable for this job, so we are looking for a endurance prospect home.

Any ideas / suggestions will be greatfully recieved!!!

Thank you <3

With that breeding I was thinking of eventing! I am sure you have covered this but what does your dentist think about your mares sensitivity? I had a very mouthy TB and was focusing too much on inside his mouth and not looking at the actual size of his jaw (he was 17 hands). Ended up with the snaffle part of a double bridle (so very small rings) as normal sized rings could meet behind his jaw and pinch.

Many thanks for your kind replies.
We are a professional Dressage Schooling yard so we have been down all routes, and unfortunately it is her temperment. She is extremely kind and loving but will not accept anyone touching her mouth enough to get any form of contact for dressage.
This is why we are trying to find her a home in endurance, as head carriage is of little importance compared to dressage.
For this reason, i dont believe she would be suitable for eventing, as if she was, we would be keeping her!! We are very upset about this but we strongly feel that endurance is where she would be best placed and we only want her to find a job that she is good at in a loving home!

Thank you <3

Nothing helpful to say but she looks gorgeous and I wish I did endurance riding! Good luck with finding her the perfect home, it is so refreshing to see that she is more important than money despite her excellent breeding.

ah, thanks for the explanation..! and def no to eventing then. I wasn't hinting for myself just trying to think outside the box.

She sounds exactly what my OH is looking for at the moment!! We were just discussing where to look for an endurance horse to loan with our YO on sat night! Do you know what weight she would take - as my partner is 12 stone?
