Just wondering if there are any freelance grooms on here and whether you have a cancellation policy (I have in my terms that 48h notice is required or may be subject to charge, but this isn't much use if I haven't yet been out for The initial visit b4 holiday care) or if you take deposits on bookings (and how, for example do you take deposit over phone, through PayPal etc?) the reason I ask is I am sick of people booking things such as a weeks holiday care for there horses, then them deciding to cancel as they've 'found someone else to do it' which I imagine is a friend or someone they no that will do it for free or for peanuts!! What people don't seem to understand is that sometimes other work is being turned away because of there booking, for them to only decide they've sorted something else! Sorry for my little rant!
Any advice on the situation would be appreciated!! Thank you

I used holiday cover and paid 10% in advance. I would either ask them to pay a percentage or a certain amount up front per booking that at least covers one days work.

How did you pay the deposit, in cash,PayPal,online banking etc?
I was thinking of saying 20% of the booking total or something like that, just not sure of best way of receiving the deposit as dont want to be running about collecting money as that's going to cost in fuel!! Thanks :-)

I found a pet sitting service - they charge a non refundable 10% on booking. 50% a month before they leave and the rest two weeks before they leave - though this is for house and pet sitting.
It os up to the person booking you to send the money to you.

Thanks everyone, glad to see I'm not being unreasonable here! I think it will have to be a case of me penciling people in and saying that the booking is only 100% confirmed once the deposit is received! Shall have to get editing my website tomorrow!!
Appreciate the help, thanks :-)
