Hi

Ive just applied to be on the BHS register of instructors mainly to get insurance so i can start teaching freelance. Im a BHSAI and BSc(hons) Sports Science (Equitation Coaching) graduate and have my UKCC2.

Im just wondering what people with similar qualifications charge for their freelance teaching?

Thanks!

Between £20 and £30 an hour, depending on whether at home or away.

I think it depends largely on what people are willing to pay....I pay my dressage trainer £20 for 30mins, SJ specialist £30 for 45mins and my general trainer (who is both a BHSI and BE accredited trainer) £30 an hour.

I don't have the same degree of quals as you so this may not be relavent but I have BHS stage 3 plus the PTT (preliminary Teaching Test) and a variety of Pony club test certs both compulsory and optional. But I charge £25 per hour for individual flatwork per hour or £15 shared between 2. For a 45min (I dont teach young horses for more than 45min- a personal rule) I charge £20.

I have pretty much same qual's as you and have also just put myself on register so i'm also trying to set my pricing right. At the moment i'm £10 for half an hour, £15 per hour. Debating whether to add travel expenses etc, and to up the hour to £20. It's difficult to pitch it right!

Thanks everyone,
I was thinking of £10 for half an hour and £20 for an hour plus travel if its more then 10 miles or something. But as somebody said its what people want to pay. I would rather underprice myself to get the contacts than overprice and get no interest.
