Freelancers/Part timers - Going Rate?

I'm after a few hours work to help make ends meet and have spotted a p/t grooms job - just wondering what you would call 'the going rate' for self employed, couple of hours a day? I'm told around £7.
Would you agree? West Country by the way. Not too much driving/petrol involved.

Friend gets £20 a day for 2-3 hours work max! I get paid per job as horses belong to different people and its £2 turn out or bring in including rug changes, £5 muck out including haynets, feeds made and waters done. Big list of extras too eg tack cleaning, lunging, hacking, vet and farrier attendance being the most popular
