I know this website isnt "Top Gear" but i have just been given the ok by my very lovely boss to order the new freelander 2 as my company car - does anyone on her have one/know anyone with one ? any feedback would be great, as after months of nagging i really would not be able to do the usual sarah thing of " I dont like it, lets sell it and get something new"
I would be looking to tow with it aswell.

Dont know about the freelander 2 but mum has the original and i dont like towing with it at all! I have a lorry now but we towed with our discovery when i had a trailer and that felt much safer and sturdier than the freelander. You can only tow one horse with a freelander too.
 
i have original freelander and stilton is right i can only tow 1 horse with it - but it is ok for that i have an anti snake bar as well and it makes it feel a lot safer x
 

Elles also has the original freelander to tow with, so I knew it was only one, i think the weight limit is slighter higher with the 2, - its 2 tons but that would still only be one horse - right?
 
Got one in tambora flame(orange) Just had to have the full sports body kit and spangly alloys....worth it freelanders are officaily cool.Drives well and sterios banging!!!!!

OHHHHHH ! I bet that looks lovely ! I have to black, so will get a black trailer to match ! it will be a chelsea tractor during the week and a country pulling machine at the weekend.
Im hoping to take Uvin out in elles trailer this weekend - just to be sure that he actually travels in one - or it will be the audi A4 convertable for me !
 
yes its a bit bigger, going for a test drive on friday - bloody sales man at Land Rover - myself, elles and saf went down there on saturday and were looked down on - ok we were in jodphurs but we didnt smell - and we were all wearing expensive jodphurs !!!
So just called him to say that I can now purchase a car and he wanted to be my new best friend ! - we'll see !
 
Tis much bigger than the original freelander. As it is designed along the lines of the Disco 3. Haven't driven one yet though friend has on & towed his trailer for over 250 mile trip taking race horse to trainer with no hassle.
The rear window doesn't drop down like the old freelander which alot of people liked for their dogs.
Haven't heard anything bad about the engine, like the old 1.8's which the head gaskit goes on & is a case of when not if!!!
Lucky you. Go & have fun when you go for test drive!! Then I would out of badness buy it from a different garage for their attitude in the first place!! Or ask for discount!!!!
 
K9h - Like your badness style ! I know full well I can get a better deal that from the garage that my boss buys his range rovers from but its easier for me to test drive etc at the local "rude"one ! and work out exactly what I want then go and order it from the other garage. I hate rude sales people, ive just sold a building to a guy for £60m and he turned up to the meeting in jeans, old jumper ( probably expensive vintage though) and a puffa waistcoat, but he owns 450 properties in london - never ever ever judge a book by its cover !

Too right!!! There is never any excuse for rudeness. Me being bad would point out after the test drive & everything sorted that that was the reason why I was going elsewhere & that he only has himself to blame for loosing his commition!!!!

They only have a 2 tonne tow limit!!!

I had an old Freelander and I must admit I loved it, but I needed to get a new 4 x 4 and knew that a new Freelander would never have a big enough legal towing limit.

After knackering the bushes on my old Freelander I wasn't about to bust them on a brand new one, plus it wouldn't be legal for me to tow with.

I do love the look of them though!
 
I have a freelander 2 and as far as i concerned they should have changed the name. Its nothing like the old freelander ( which was useless to tow with and not very nice to drive). The 2 is bigger and much more solid to tow with, tows as well as a discovery. Havr to say i`m very impressed with mine.
