I have an 04 TD4 freelander sport. When i open the window with the switch inside it will only go all the way down. in the manual it says when you release the button movement will stop. this suggests to me that i could choose how much it opens.

When i try and close the window up, i will press the switch and if i let the switch go the window will open all the way up again.

i wanted to open the window slightly today because the dog was hot but i could only open it all the way so when we got to the main roads i had to put it up as i didnt want to risk her jumping out.

im prety sure my friends freelander which was a 53reg, you could open the window up as much or as little as you want?

In mine I can open the window a little bit 2 inches at most but if I let it go to far it opens all the way. Same when it goes up I have to close it totally because if I stop it opens all the way again. Was a bit hair raising finding this out driving down the road with dogs in the boot! I now have the dog guard so that doesn't happen any more :)

With OH's you have to press the switch a little bit at a time otherwise it opens fully but only once when you want it stop it at a certain point if you're closing it.

mine is the same, have to be very delicate with it to get it to stay open just a couple of inches....it seems to have a mind of its own as occasionally it will just open without me being anywhere near the switch and i only realise when i lock the car as the locking system makes a warning sound....they are very odd vehicles but i love driving mine....

My sisters had a mind of its own.....if she wanted it only a little bit open and it would open all the way down then wouldnt close.....she got very good at timing turning the engine off and the window closing.

Pop into your local dealers. My window did a variety of things from new and when it went for its service they reprogrammed the settings so it's perfect now. (they obviously didn't charge!)
