I bought my lad about a year ago after loaning him for 3yrs. The first thing I done was to have him freeze marked. Got him done under the saddle on his back, had a week of, started to heal, treated everyday, healed brilliantly, used lots of soft fluffy numnahs whilst it was scabby, No bleeding occurred and all was heppy.

But the problem is I have noticed that his freezemark is not very clear. The numbers and letters only appear to be half clear. Is this because he is hairy? If I was to clip the mark would it appear clearly ?

Do you think I should clip it to make sure it is ok ? If it has not, do you think I have left it too long for them to redo it free of charge? Problem was he was fully clipped when I got him and his coat is now 'normal' which I waiting for to see for sure !!

Not sure on his colouring? But it can make a big difference. How long has it been? I had mine december and just starting to scab. Clipping will make a big difference. I told told they had to be clipped during winter. Remeber any mark will stop theft.

Just clip the freezemark out. If it is not clear the call them back. My mare was done about twelve weeks ago and the last letter isn't very clear, called Freezemark and they are coming back out in March to redo.

Patches was done on the 11th November last year. Hers is supposed to be a bald mark because she's grey.

This was hers on Monday, immediately after being clipped out. (It's supposed to read 8ELA)

Farmkey are coming to re-do her's but they cannot re-mark until it has been done for 16 weeks. Therefore, it's not being done until next month.

Yeah, they tell you that at the time of marking don't they? Well they told me anyway.

The other thing to mention is that they will only re-do within the first year. The OP's horse was done in 2005.
