freeze mark

Ive got Benson down as freeze marked but it not like any mark ive seen before i thought freezmarked was white but his looks like scar letters ill post pic of little bit of it don't want to put all of it up, its not noticeable till you get close to him. i was told i could be a breeders mark but I'm not sure its on both sides and it letters/numbers so it still counts as a freeze mark but what is it actually called ? is it a freeze mark

That looks a rather like a brand? It's a very odd place to have it done though (looks like his saddle area?) They are always branded on the bum or shoulder as it leaves a scar.

I have a minature shetland that was bred by south sands/ butterstorr stud on bodmin moor and she has a similar mark which is on her saddle area but because she grey i never discovered it till i fully clipped her. I have like you been lead to believe its a breeders mark!

That is definately a hot brand not a freezemark. I have no idea beyond that though, sorry.

Saw a brand like this on a Russian bred horse years ago.

Yes I think I saw a brand like that on an eastern european horse, I believe it was something to do with their age. It does not seem to be a breed brand. Hope you get a definitive answer.
