Freeze-marking... does it deter thieves?

l'll have a look for some pictures of my palomino pony that had his freezemark on his shoulder - may take me a day or so as l'll have to find them as they are on my old phone although someone may beat me. The hair never grew back because they killed the pigmentation. As l said my palomino youngster is identical to him in the respect of going cream in autumn then light grey in winter if clipped. l did showing with him & judges weren't bothered & they've not been fussed about my other pony whose freezemarked. Tbh if a judge doesn't like it - its tough as l'd rather have my pony marked, chipped etc as a preventative measure & be safer rather then pick a rosette / drop afew places. But as afew people have highlighted if someone really wants something they will take it you 've just got to make it as difficult as possible as l know what heartbreak a stolen pony can cause - my friend had her pony pinched from a field belonging to my old riding school which was alongside an A road not far from the M1 but she got him back eventually
