freeze marking how do i read it?

Yeah loss of use. What are they selling her as? How long have they had her?? They can get a loss of use stamp for something like colic, but I personally would be wary of a loss of use as they've been deemed an insurance write off.

Circle L mark does mean loss of use. Something in the ponies past has happened & an insurance company has paid out full value on her. If you purchase the pony you will be unlikely to be able to obtain insurance on her.

Having said that, you may find she was loss of use for a particular activity & will hack out or do something else perfectly well. I tried making enquiries about a loss of use horse once through insurance company however they would not give out details of the incident/claim.

Personally I'd steer clear of the pony.

I agree, id steer clear unless you can see paperwork as to what she was claimed on for and can get a copy to send to your insurance...You may be able to get insurance for visible accident and 3 rd party, but unlikely to get normal insurance...

I'd steer clear even if the pony is sound now, how long will it stay that way and is it prone to injury, Insurance companies do not pay out easily so I would figure it did something big. I wouldn't put my child on it either especially if you can't get it properly insured. There are so many nice ponies out there, I would carry on looking.
I'd also be abit worried about the owners reliability here too, they've already been paid once for this pony why are they selling now?

Loss of use has to be something quite major as it is a nightmare to get- take it from somebody who has tried first hand! You say Vet has said its OK- have you had X Rays etc? I would'nt buy a pony with exsisting problems- there are big enough risks buying something sound. Also means you can't insure it.
