Hello!

I have two shetlands and due to the easiness of them being stolen(/escaping!) I want to have them freezemarked. However, I want to show them to as high a level as the can go! I know that judges aren't supposed to mark down for freeze marks, but we all know how funny they can be! Have any of you shown shetlands (or other breeds) to a high level with a visible freezemark?
I have been doing some research and there are people that have them done under their manes so that you can cover this in the show ring...
But, does this defeat the point of it as it can be covered up when stolen? Or does it deter a thief anyway?
Would any of you have it done under the mane!?

I'm not going to choose having them stolen over having a nice appearance, but i just want to make sure i don't make a mistake on something that can't be removed!

Thanks x

The Queen's show ponies are freeze marked - and if a judge marks you down for your pony having one, shame on them really. But i'm sure they won't !

I would rather have my pony safe :)

Just what I thought, have decided to definitely get them done. What would you recommend... On the shoulder or on the back (under the saddle/by withers)?

Thanks!

I had Shy done by a lady called Alison from Farmkey, and she advised me where to have the mark - and it all worked really well. Feel so much more secure now. :)

my eldest is done on her shoulder - shes too ugly to show (priceless to me hence why i got her done :) )!

my youngster is a more valuable coloured - she will be out showing next year with someone else and i will def have her freezemarked - probably on her shoulder again... :)
