Freezemark beginning with L ....

Is this just a normal ID freeze mark or does it mean loss of use?

Is it a normal freezmark i.e 4 didget or litterally just an L and where? If its the former ide say normal freezmark, but if its just an L I would doubt it unless maybe its a brand?

that just seems like your average freezemark, I would only question if it was a single letter

I've got two starting with L followed by a number then another letter and number. Definitely not l.o.u as it was me who got them done Maybe you could contact one of the freezemarking companies for advice/info?

It is on his left hand side just below his withers. It is something like LO8E (but I am finding out for sure).

What is the difference between a freeze mark and a brand? One thing I did notice is that it is not particularly neat!

If it is a FM, it is a bit unfortunate as it looks like LOSE! lol

Shy's mum - yes, that is reassuring, shows they do start some with an 'L'.

When I was younger my parents got our 2 ponies freezemarked and they were LO2E and LO5E. A group of horses at the yard were all done with consecutive numbers so if yours really is LO8E there's a good chance it's a horse I used to know.

An update - the freezemark company have been in touch with me and the Loss of Use 'L' is ALWAYS in a circle, hope this is of use for others.

Also, the freeze mark I was talking about has been done with cattle irons (I thought it was a bit ugly / untidy!!!) so is not on the usual database.
