I am hoping to do some inhand showing with my boy next season, but i really want to get him freezemarked, will freezemarking him affect his marks in the show ring at all?

it depends what level you want to compete. it SHOULDN'T affect you if you have a freezemark; however, at the higher levels you probably willl be marked down, as (supposedly) its a beauty contest ?!.. lower levels you should be Ok, its a rather grey area though..Are any top show horses, cobs excluded, freezemarked? can anyone enlighten me?

I was worried about this aswell when I did affiliated showing. I wanted to get mine freezemarked and asked on a showing forum whether it would affect us at all - the answer I got was a very positive no it will not. Judges understand that our horses mean a lot to us and understand the need to protect them from theft by freezemarking. However I was advised to freemark on the saddle area as it could be covered by a saddle when needed, although there are successfull horses out there with shoulder freezemarks etc
