I got my boy freezemarked last sunday - a horse shoe to show he is microchipped.
But its still not obviously visible?
If you go really close to look you can make an outline out - i can also feel the raised bump.
Hes a coloured, the freezemark was put on his shoulder where he is brown - why hasnt it worked?

Stages in the development of the freezemark

•Slight swelling lasting for approximateley 24 hours
•Usually after 2-3 weeks a scab will begin to form *
•After 4-6 weeks the scab should fall away naturally, to leave bare skin *
•New hair will begin to grow after approximately 6 weeks, depending on the time of year *
•The actual freezemark should appear approximately 12 weeks* after marking

* Please note these timings are guides only, and may vary with individual horses dependant upon breed, skin type and season.

From the Farmkey website. :)

Give it time, if I remember correctly, mine was visible after about 3 weeks. It didn't particularly scab, it just kind of peeled.

It sounds like it's doing fine if you can see the outline and it feels raised.

Ours took weeks to come through. They were on a chestnut, a piebald, and a bright bay :).

This is Dizz's a couple of months ago (it was three months old by then):

I had a bald mark done on my draft in March. It's STILL scabbing and one of the letters is deformed! Horse stood like a rock the whole time.

I spoke to the woman from Northern Brand in June who said give it time. I emailed her two days ago to say I am still not happy and have had no reply.......

I know I know - should have used Farmkey or Freezemark.
