I have a varnish roan appaloosa who is microchipped, but I would quite like to freezemark him too before we switch over to summertime night time turnout...

Now I *think* that he has white hair on a black coat (sorry to be vague! have a look in my picture album)...do you think a normal freezemark would show up or would it have to be a baldmark? I don't actually know what that looks like...does anyone have pictures of that?

If his hair is white you would need a baldmark.

When the freezemark is done the hair grows back white on dark skin, but if your horses hair is already white then you won't be able to see the numbers.

have a look on their website
they usually do bald marks on the shoulder or neck .

you can have personal ones ( which i have 3 ) and 2 non personal ones.

My pony isn't quite a roan but he is chestnut with lots of white hairs, I had him freezemarked last April and not all of it came out and had to be partially redone, so I'd say if his skin is mostly black you will probably be ok, you could always ring and ask, Farm Key have been very helpful from start to finish with Swift's
