Freezemarking - shoulder or saddle area?

I hate freeezmarks - but I realise they serve an important purpose.

I need to get my boy done as a deterrent.....I want to put it under his saddle area...do you think that is enough? or do you think the shoulder is the only real deterrent?

Mine are all on the shoulder.

I really don't like them, but I really don't like the thought of losing them far more, so have had them put where they're the greatest deterrent.

It also depends on the colour of your horse. My mare is grey and has hers on her shoulder. It has to be done as a bald mark on a grey so would take longer to heal. Having one under the saddle area would mean leaving to heal longer without riding.

Best on shoulder or elsewhere where it can be seen while the horse is being ridden.
