Following up from Doublescoops post on freezemaeking, I just wondered where your horse is marked, or if you intend marking them where would it be?

My old TB isn't freezemarked, but my two cobs are: One on the shoulder and one on the saddle area

I had it done on the shoulder, mainly cos Gen had some sensitive back issues and didnt want to make him worse. Also as his shoulder is white it doesnt stand out like washing instructions.

On the shoulder..... Not that anyone could steel her if they tried. Star does NOT like strangers, and will NOT be caught if there are any around!!

On shoulder as grey. They don't mark anywhere but shoulder and back because it is demend unsafe now days for anywhere else.

Aaaah! Interesting. I was going to ask if you had a choice of where a horse could be branded.

We used to get a lot of imported arabs through with a brand down their neck, I think it was arabic script. So, why is it deemed unsafe to brand anywhere else then? (Bearing in mind I have never seen the procedure carried out, or had a horse with a freezemark.)

My horse is freezemarked on her shoulder. She's a grey so required a bald mark. They can't do them anywhere but the shoulder. Bald mark under a saddle could cause the saddle to rub.

My horse is dun and they did it on his shoulder ( a old owner )
i hate it ! it stands out and it says jen the old owners name she only owned him for a matter of months aswell how annoying x

Back in the old days, it was always the back where they seemed to Freezemark, but in latter years I always had mine done on the shoulder.
