thinking about getting my horse freezemarked, does it affect your placing in a showing class? i do inhand and ridden so it wouldnt matter where it was done really but as she is piebald not many of her black patches are big enough for a freezemark it would be done on the white, what colour would it grow back in?

thanks (:

NO it shouldn't affect your placing at all. TBH I would have it done on any black patch that is big enough (Freezemark only use 3 letters/numbers so might be a better option). If its done on a white bit, they will have to bald mark (leave iron on longer to kill off the hair follicle), so it won't grow back at all, the mark will be the colour of her skin (pink I assume), thus will have to be done on her shoulder and will be prone to sunburn.

it shouldnt affect results in showing classes at all.

My coloured mare has her mark on her side in a square as it was a large enough brown patch there. If you have it done on the white, they have to leave it on longer and it kills the hair completely so it should be bald there.

Not meaning to be rude - please do not take it that way - but - sod the cost, Freezemarking is much better security. Judges are forbidden to mark down a Freezemark (can't say if they all stick to it or not!)
