Nerve blocks cost pennies and rest is often the best cure.
By the way "common things are common". The most likely cause of sudden lameness with no other symptoms is pus in the foot. Just wait, it'll break out when it's ready, but he may become very, very lame on it first, and his leg might swell too.
Hi,Im sorry about the post my friend wrote it for me earlier quickly.Basically I bought a friesian x cob,hes name is black sabbath, hes an absoulutely stunning horse with a wonderful nature I bought him a week ago off a guy,he knew the horse was lame and was very honest and straight to the point that he was lame,he explained that he has had him for 10 months and in that time he has only been on field and box rest,he has had numerous vets out who cant diagnose the problem and also had a machine to try and detect heat on this horse by a vet which could also not find anything,he is lame on the straight in trot but not so much in walk,he has also had a farrier out to him a number of times but they to could not find anything, his present owner was very caring and decided to sell him as wanted him to try and have a second chance!I do believe this horse deserves a second chance as he is a magnificent site and you would have to see it to believe it!He is 8 years old,15.2hh and weighing in at around 800kg,he is a big boy.Any info would be much appreciated and advice.Thanx everyone.
We have a fresian x cob as well.
Does yours have very hairy legs. HPs feathers are incredibly dense, you really can't see the skin. When he went lame last year it eventually turned out to be pastern dermatitis from mites. After jabs & yucky ointment he was fine & we now have a strict pig oil & sulphur regime.
Really thats interesting, yeah he has got a lot of feather more like a cob,I will have to have a good look,i know it sounds ridiculous but is it easy to see?If i put my hand in his feathers i literatly lose my hand, how long did yours go lame for?
