Couldn't agree more. I bought my lovely Friesian lady from them 3 years ago.

oooh did you? I've been looking into getting a filly for some time now, just never got up the guts to actually do it! Tell me more about your lady!! Pics?! How did the process go?

Everyone said I was mad because I bought her without ever seeing her, but she is a complete pet. She came with her 6 month old foal (whom my friend bought). The process was easy - money transferred to their bank. I paid for insurance while she was travelling, I seem to remember. She was vetted in Holland and they sent me a copy (and translation). Only problems were: she was sold as 15.3hh (and is that on her passport) but was actually 16.2hh! I know it's the same horse as she's tattood. And she had a very traumatic journey - this was no one's fault really. She left the Dutch yard in fine condition - she was taken with her foal for foal to be graded only a few days before - but she then disappeared off the radar for a week. She was held at the port because the weather was so bad in the North Sea that they couldn't ship her. I truly don't know whose responsibility she was then. When she was shipped, there were still gales at sea. She arrived about a day and a half later on a huge Dutch lorry which had travelled from Harwich to Devon - lots of horses on board. Anyway, she was very very thin and withdrawn, but she'd obviously given her all to the foal who was fine. So was she, but it took a while to feed her up and to 'bring her round'. I'm not saying she was mistreated - not at all - I think it was just a bit much for a rather sensitive mare. I know I was lucky - she could have been anything - but Ingrid (on the website) is really helpful. I will try to find a picture I can post. I've wanted a Friesian for years and suddenly thought - life's too short' and bought her. Not the recommended way to buy, but I couldn't be happier with her. Are you looking to ride or breed, or just browsing (as I did for years).

Sorry for hi-jack Lis!

I've been browsing for about 6 years now!! I really want a backed mare, aged about 5 or 6, and I want BIG!! At least 16.2, which I know is fairly tall for a Friesian. The idea is to do a little dressage with the mare and then put her to a piebald stallion I LOVE (Goshka Ringo) and once foal born, keep foal as my future event type horse and sell the mare on as a dresage type / fun horse. It's the only way I can think of to get the type of baby I want - ie, large, coloured and with expressive paces. Ringo throws gorgeous foals with colour, and I'd hope to get a bit of the lovely Friesian temperament in there too. I don't want to jump more than about 3 foot anyway, so ability to clear huge fences in the future isn't that important (I have that now with Henry!), but something expressive and colourful is my dream for when Henry is winding down! Given that he's only 10 right now, I figure I still have 3 years or so before getting the mare, so time to try and save up!

*sigh* it's all just a pipe dream for now though!

I have spoken to these people in Bristol and they were really helpful and seem to know their stuff. They import them and are really fussy about the types they do. They also try and get what you specifically want. The prices were just a bit steep for me and I went a completely different route away from freisians, but maybe one day .... they are so lovely!

These people with Friesians can i please see some photos!

Um well just looking really, have heard you can pick them up quite cheaply in Holland...

Always thought they were amazing looking with a lot of presence but now am even more taken by them after seeing the Spirit of the Horse show Saturday night - the Freisian Stallions they had there were somethin else!

Hi Chums
I used friesianequine.uk when I bought my gorgeous boy.
They are a family business based in Cheshire and Penny is great at matching the right horse to the right person.
Prices are very reasonable and all the horses are hand picked by Penny and Tony , her husband , in Holland.
They usually have about 7 horses in their stables at a time and can source you your perfect horse in Holland and ship it over for you if they don't have anything for you at the time.
I had a limited budget and they didn't make me feel stupid about asking for a horse within my price range ( the same can't be said of the Bristol/Bath people mentioned in this thread!! , I had a very rude and belittling response from them stating " You will never find anything decent for that sort of money)
Whereas, Penny just said "Ok, I will see what I can find for you" and find she did !
I now have a lovely boy of 4 years, beautiful beyond belief and I am still in regular contact with Friesianequine.uk with up-dates.
I would highly recommend them.
They made my dream can true so give them a try.
