Please don't shoot the messenger but ... my niece is trying to rehome Minnie her 3 year old spayed bitch. Minnie has had brachial(?) surgery, doesn't have any behaviour issues and lives near Bedford. If anyone knows of someone who may be interested in offering her a good home please contact me.

Agreed but from what I know I don’t think it was a good breeder. I’m not even sure if the dog is registered 🙄

Apparently they were the most popular dog breed in the USA in a recent year.

I'm not sure us on here are your target audience though 🙈

I hope a suitable home is found.

The usual story unfortunately. My niece has had a baby and is now back at work after maternity leave and doesn't have time etc etc  I understand rescues have been contacted but because she is already in a safe home they can't help. I will ask if she tried a Frenchie rescue.

ETA: Her Mum tells me she has tried frenchie rescue but I've forwarded her the details.

Its so sad, I just don't get it. My daughter, now, adult said to me the other day the best decision i ever made about her life was to get a dog while she was a baby. He apparently features in all her best memories growing up. It was a good help to me too, A puppy is a great distraction and made me get the exercise I'd probably have missed out on being stuck with a baby.

I’m not having a go op, but i just don’t get it, I know I’m not child oriented but my dog is my priority and I wouldn’t allow a child’s to negatively impact that BUT that said, i would far rather a now unwanted dog go to a loving and caring home. We rehomed a dog under the same circumstances and she lived a great, happy, active life with us, so i guess she would have chosen that rather than left in a kitchen with the odd walk around the block

I think most of us on here will struggle to understand the situation. There have always been lots of dogs in the family so my niece knew what she was taking on when she bought a puppy.

I've always been on the other side of the fence and have rehomed unwanted dogs. I've had three GSDs over the years. The first came from Battersea Dogs Home, the second was rehomed via a friend of a friend and the third was advertised on Pets 4 Homes. All three of them were great dogs and we gave them the best life and cared for them until the end. Our most recent loss was a year ago yesterday. We decided to take a break from dogs and enjoy the freedom in our new campervan. I'm currently getting my doggy fix via borrowmydoggy.com as I work from home and take care of a couple of romanian rescue dogs and a cockerpoo in the week on the days their owners work or when their owners are on holiday. I did think about taking Minnie on but another dog is not in our short term plan.
