French Dressage tests

I did a French degree but it's never occurred to me that I don't know any equine terms in French until today. I assume 'galop' isn't gallop as there's no way anyone could enter at at A in gallop and halt at X :D

Ha no "galop" is canter in dressage. Galop rassemble is collected canter.

Lived and rode in Belgium for 25 years so seeing dressage tests in French is like putting on an old pair of slippers.

This confused me a bit when my daughter came back from riding, just before I started... I thought it very strange that French horses could only do walk, trot and gallop...

Galop means canter, and grand galop means gallop.

I now have a much wider equestrian vocabulary in French than in English.
