French Link Dutch Gag?

Used one on mine last winter, but he can be a bit fiesty and when he has his head down can buck - so this type of bit encouraged head to go down so stopped using it, for obvious reasons, lol...

i did use one on my pony, i thinkthe french link is kinder than a nutcracker but i dont like the dutch gag as it forces the horses head down. however, my pony had it for quite a while and i he never had any problems with it. i do occasionally use it on him for jumping as i have much more control and he listens very well in it. but now he is fine in a snaffle, so i dont tend to use it.

i suppose it depends on the horse really, just try it and give it ago if you feel you need a stronger bit.

i was laways taught a dutch gag lifts the head up and in?? well, it does on my pony anyway!! never forces his head down, even with a bucking fit it helps me to lift his head back up!! must be the odd one out!!

i ride in one and pony goes much better in it than any other bit i have tried she isn't really strong but can be if her mind is set on it when i rode her in a snaffle her head was all over the place changed to this and she holds her head beautifully

The jury is out wether it lowers or highers the head i think, but it certainly made Murphy pick his head up. I used the FL and he loved it he doesnt like a single joint at all xx
