Is it safe to feed freshly picked rosehips to horses?

I know my boys like them and their is an abundance of them around us at the moment, thougth it might be nice to pick a bucketfull for the boys (not to feed all at once), but just wondered is it safe to feed them whole?

I know if you use them for making jam etc., they advise you to take out the seeds.

:D

Well mine pick them from around the hedges, have done for years and years, so I presume they are fine to pick then feed them! I collect a few handfulls a day and put in their feed along with blackberreis :)

Might take Boo for a festy forgage nature trail ride at the weekend complete with an old supplement bucket, he can help me pick his own treats ;) Might get some blackberries as well.

Of no relevence at all but I've just made some apple and rosehip jelly, its delish :)

I think its fine for horse to eat btw, mine love them!

Ours love rosehips, they've never done any harm and they are supposed to be good for rheumatism. We mentioned it in passing to our vet and he had no problem with it. If you want to save some for later in the winter I've found they freeze well.
