I went to put our boys back in their normal field this morning and was told by the farmer that he cut down the nettles in there yesterday. I thought they wouldn’t eat them but they made a beeline for them and started munching. Wasn’t sure if this was a good idea so I took them back out of the field.

I gather (from the internet) that dried nettles can be good for horses but how long do they need to dry out first?

Horses love wilted nettles, so much so that the late chesnut git colicked after gorging on them after we'd cut them down 😳. He was ok after an OOH vet visit.

Can you can gather them up and feed a few at a time over a few days?
That’s what worries me. I will try and take most out this evening before I put them back in the field tomorrow. I tried to take some out this morning but there were too many and the horses were happily munching 🙄
