Morning was chaotic. Two loose ones after they both fell over slid under the electric fence after bombing off in the new field with the herd and had to do a quick emergency stop..Both went up the gallops and did the full circuit before running towards both of us. I'm trying to be calm but i didn't know what to do. Panicking inside and heard "GET HEAD COLLARS" so of course I got to the furthest place to get one even though I could've gone to the paddock behind us that had em in the grass but my mind thought of that after ffs 🙄🙄. Oh well, they got caught after being bribed with feed so at least i know what to do now for next time

I did what I could without causing anymore issues. Still need to be a quick thinker and quick mucking out-er now.. 😂😂😂

So yeah happy heccin' chaos. I feel a bit stupid for not knowing what to do but like a friend on here said "why experience is better than theory.

The first time I accidentally let sneaky horses get past me out a gate into the yard at the sanctuary I felt like the most single brain-celled organism that ever lived in a puddle. You cope, you learn, you do better next time and no harm no foul.

At least 80% of "quick thinking" is knowing your environment. Your brain did the best it could in a stress situation.

Think of it this way - at least you didn't let them go! That would have been much worse 😂

There will be many, many things you come across that you will have no idea of how to deal with it but you will learn and you will know for next time the idiots do something stupid. This is quite regular. You will learn a lot in a very short space of time 😂

I am the "go to" person when horses come in with wounds, especially spurty ones. But when I started there I would have ran a million miles from it! Time and experience.

My pair have a track / paddock set up. I was turning them out and didn’t bother closing the field gate because I was taking them through the track to turn out in the inner field.
Just as I was closing the inner field gate I noticed the YOs horses poking their heads through the outer gate. They had a merry time gallivanting round the outer track, lead by a very crafty Welsh pony who wouldn’t come near me. I did eventually get hold of the ring leader and the YO herded the followers out of the track. Lesson learned, close the gate if YOs horses are roaming!
YO was not angry, again no hurt no foul.

Every day is a school day! You will look back on all of this in a year and be amazed at how much you’ve learnt and how far you’ve come. You’ve found it hard so you should be really proud of yourself for sticking at it 🙂
