We brought our little MGA pony home today. He has been away for about 2 years. Our two TB's were SO pleased to see him.:)
They were visibly excited to see him. Not in a 'O you're new' way. It was completely different. Just very relaxed and welcomed him home, and wanted to play.
It's made me feel ridiculously happy :D
Anyone else had this?

Yes, it is special isn't it! When my boy went on holiday livery and came back, they were visibly ecstatic to see each other... Nose sniffs, tail sniffs, where have you been sniffs and let's check out the field canters and tails high in the air!

I sent my mare away for 9 months while in training. When she came back I put her on her own next to her old friends, sister and mom. There were the sweetest high pitched whinnies of recognition and then I just put her back out with them. I was a little choked up over something so silly but it was beautiful!

Haha:D
Thank you for the replies. We have enjoyed seeing them together so much this afternoon.
It has just made me wonder...what on earth do they think has happened to each other when parted :(
But lovely to see them all together again . :)

Well this is going to sound very corney but we make up little stories so to speak. We used to have lots of horses in and out do to our business. So I always imagined the keeper horses thinking, "OMG, they got rid of Abba, none of us are safe!" Then when she came back, geez they must have really missed you Abba because they brought you back, wus up, where'd you go!!!

Like I said quite sad really that I make up what my horses are thinking! I need a life!

Yes, years ago when my parents sold up our small holding and all but three of our horses I needed to move them closer to town where I had moved.
First I moved Seren, she was the only one that would load that day! A while later, cannot remember exactly how long, maybe a month, we then tried to load wizard her daughter, with her son Tonto, got her on.
Any how, when I reunited them it was wonderful, they had never been apart for long before that, only when we weaned Wizard from her. I was welling up as they were so happy to see one another, Seren came running over full speed to her neighing and wizard did the same

Lovely replies. Thank you. :)
So I am not alone in being sentimental about all this.
What a position of power we humans have to decide which horses stay together and which ones don't.:o am feeling humble.

My mare went to stud for a few months two summers ago. When we went to pick her up we took our gelding as she travels badly without him. She spotted him and our trailer across a huge yard and they neighed like mad at one another (very Black Beauty!) When she got home she walked around every inch of the 8 acre field taking in the views, almost in disbelief that she was back. You could see the relief. She never took at the stud, and I have a free return option, but I haven't the heart to send her away again after that! When I first got her she was on livery elsewhere, and she still wants to go up the drive when we hack past. She also says hello to her fellow ex liveries when we see them at shows, as they do her.

That's such a nice story :) our little pony marched round the yard today, checking out the hay barn, feed shed...then came in the tack room to see if there was the usual carrots bag for good work. Just like he was here yesterday. :)
