My friend is going to start the hunt and following on from the show me your friesians post I thought I would ask where to buy....?

Ideally she is not looking for a unbroken youngster, more of something that has started its education and experienced a bit of life already.... say 7 - 16 years old, she would also look at something a bit older as a schoolmaster or mistress...where to start....? Any points in the right direction would be much appreciated....she would be doing mainly dressage, jumping for fun and a bit of hacking and showing.....

Please PM me if you feel there is anyone she should steer clear of....

Thanks :)

If she is serious about getting a decent Friesian, then a trip to Holland is the way to go. If she contacts some of the breeders / stud farms, she can see lots of horses in one weekend trip, but make sure she is very firm as to what she really wants.

She is serious has a budget of around 10K for the 'special' one and was hoping that would be enough to secure a decent, sane, tried and tested 'baroque' stockier type.....:) doesn't want to get ripped off in any way.....also following the spanish horse thread advising people not to buy from spain as they only sell the not so good ones, or ones that are problems - would this be the same over there....?

She doesn't want an olympic superstar, just something lovely with a nice temperament that will do a bit of everything.... thanks X
