can someone please tell me at what age do friesian mares stop growing?
i've seen a 5 year old today, and totally fell in love, and my husband asked me if it was still growing.

Might have stopped growing up - but will def change body shape. Shoulders and bum on my friesian have developed also his neck is more defined!:D

My friesian stallion grew just under 2 inches after I got him as a just 5yr old, and my 6yr old gelding did a very small growth spurt this spring of about half an inch, so yes they can still grow upwards until they are 8, but usually it is just muscling up and beefing outwards, they are well past the gawky gangly phases by 5 thank god!!:D Friesians are well known for being very slow to mature - mentally too!!:D

the one i rode today was really quiet and very nice to ride, i've fell in love with it. but not sure if it is too young, i've had horses for 20 years, but lost my nerve a little as i've got older,

I picked up a Friesian X tonight for a friend...beautiful, first bay one I've seen!

He's crossed with a warmblood apparently...

I have no experience with the breed!

The Friesian horse develops very slowly. Most Friesians do not reach their full height until they are 8 years of age
